The Challenge
Tim Johnson has a passion for exploration and discovering new countries and fascinating stories. He’s been able to combine this love of travel with his years of writing experience to create a website to showcase his skills and talents. He hoped his site would showcase his abilities to potential clients, as well as offer travel advice to those seeking it. The problem: Tim’s website didn’t display the full spectrum of what he offers to clients and the user experience was a bit flat.

The Process
We connected with Tim at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. At the time, Tim’s biggest issue was that he could not travel due to Covid-19 travel restrictions so in his downtime he decided to update his old website which was outdated and lacking in certain significant areas. We helped him by building a website that has an excellent user experience that also exhibits his skills as a travel writer and advisor. On the new site, we included a number of select categories, including Adventure, Luxury, and Travel Tips to demonstrate Tim’s range as a writer. We added a video section and helped Tim create a “20 Seconds of Travel” Youtube channel to give a more animated look at his vast knowledge as a travel advisor and his infectious personality.

The Solution
Smashing Pixels worked with Tim to properly showcase his passion as an adventurer and his skills and experience as a seasoned writer, with credentials working with The New Yorker, National Geographic and The Robb Report. Tim has a writing style that allows him to connect with various audiences, and Smashing Pixels helped make his site reflect that.
