The Challenge
Rotary Burlington Lakeshore organizes Canada’s Largest Ribfest. It is their most significant and most successful community event and has been running since 1996. They had a previous website, but they wanted a more current online presence that captured the same fun and excitement that the Ribfest brought to the community.

The Process
We met with the Burlington Ribfest when they were trying to organize a drive-through rib event during a Covid shut-down. Their website was very outdated, which was impacting their online presence. We updated their website to show events, images, videos and showcase entertainment. The old website had a coding issue which we fixed, and we created a fillable online PDF. We added a new “vendors” page on the new website and set a menu item where FAQ used to be. We moved the FAQ section under “contact .”The old webpage had some issues with the graphics, so we fixed those. We revamped the pictures with a more attractive colour scheme and ensured the graphics were consistent across all pages. We maintained colour scheme consistency across the whole webpage to match the branding colours seen in the logo and icons. We changed the font and background colours to improve readability and tie in with the other branding elements. We improved clarity by making similar changes to action buttons and separators. Every page came out looking more aesthetically appealing and accessible.

The Solution
After meeting with the client, we realized how much past media and coverage they had saved. We were able to take all of that information and put it on to the site to showcase the music, the food and the fun that Canada’s largest Ribfest is known for. They also needed to declutter and transition into a paperless event. We were able to take all of their traditionally paper forms for vendors as musicians and create online forms. This both eliminated the use of paper and made the user experience much better.
